About Mewtual Chaos

As told by the cats who run this place.

Hello humans.
We are The Chaos Crew, the whiskered residents, creative directors, and accidental business managers of Mewtual Chaos. Our staff (the humans) think they run the sanctuary, but we all know the truth. We merely allow them to assist us.

This page explains who we are, who we take care of, and why our sanctuary exists.
Please read carefully. There will be a quiz. (Just kidding. Or are we?)

Our Mission

At Mewtual Chaos, our entire purpose is simple:

Keep whiskered lives safe — especially the chaotic ones who never get picked first.

We rescue and care for stray, abandoned, displaced, semi-feral, feral, spicy, misunderstood, and “absolutely no one else will take this guy” cats.

We blend compassion and creativity to help humans understand cats like us through stories, songs, videos, books, and educational chaos.
Basically: we turn our drama into learning opportunities.

Our motto?
Where Chaos Meets Compassion.
(And sometimes Claw Marks.)

Our Official Mission Statement

(Our staff said we HAVE to include this human version. Please read it in a serious voice.)

Mewtual Chaos is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Our mission is to support the well-being of displaced, abandoned, and homeless cats by providing safe sanctuary, medical care, and long-term support when they cannot remain in their original environment. We advance public understanding of community cats, responsible care, and spay/neuter practices through creative educational materials, literature, digital media, and outreach programs. We combine storytelling, books, music, and media to educate the public, promote compassionate treatment of cats, and encourage informed, humane responses to feline homelessness. We are not a 501c3 organization at this time.

(Okay, serious voice over. Back to cat mode.)

Who We Help

Not to brag, but we help a LOT of cats who have nowhere else to go.

We provide sanctuary for:

Displaced feral & community cats

Cats who lost their home range because of:

  • evictions
  • demolitions
  • natural disasters
  • construction
  • humans doing human things

These cats can’t safely return to their old territories, and they’re definitely not the type to settle into indoor couch-potato life. So they pack their tiny imaginary suitcases and join The Chaos Crew , where they can roam naturally, stay spicy, sunbathe dramatically, and live their wild, whiskered lives in safety and dignity.

Stray or abandoned cats who need long-term support

Some cats are labeled “unadoptable” (rude).
Some are overlooked because they’re shy, spicy, or just weird (relatable).
We welcome them into The Chaos Crew when reputable rescues can’t place them.

Special-needs or medically fragile cats

These are our CH wobbly friends, severe dental cases, chronically ill kitties, and cats who can’t survive outdoors.

And before anyone asks:
We are at max capacity for indoor cats.
Like… MAX max.

Who We Don’t Move

From one cat to another (and to you humans who love us): we DO NOT relocate feral cats who already have caretakers and a safe home range.

Why?
Because relocation is incredibly hard on us.
It might look simple to humans, but to cats, it feels like being dropped on another planet.

  • Relocation is stressful for us
  • It can be dangerous — predators, roads, unfamiliar territory
  • We often become disoriented or try to “go home” and get hurt
  • Some cats don’t survive the confusion or panic
  • And most importantly…
if a cat already has a caretaker, they should stay with their family and in their territory

Moving a stable colony is almost never the right choice.
We only take cats who absolutely can’t stay where they were — not “don’t want to,” not “someone moved,” but truly cannot remain and have no safe alternative.e.

Our Intake Is VERY Limited

Look, it’s just one family caring for all us cats… plus the possums, armadillos, and raccoons we pretend we don’t see.

So we only take:

  • true emergencies
  • displaced outdoor cats
  • cats in danger
  • colonies losing their caretakers
  • shelter cats at risk of being euthanized
  • spicy or semi-feral adults who don’t thrive in traditional rescues

We don’t take:

  • general surrenders
  • personal pets
  • “my boyfriend doesn’t like cats” cases
  • “my landlord said no” (but we’re happy to share resources!)

Our staff always try to help point people in the right direction — but our space is for the whiskers who literally have nowhere else to go. And before any humans panic-submit their housecats: we don’t take owner surrenders. Cats only join The Chaos Crew when they’re pulled from kill lists or another rescue calls us and says, “This little gremlin has nowhere left to go.”

Our Sanctuary Philosophy

(The humans said we had to share this from them!)

We are one family providing lifelong care to these kitties who have nowhere else to go. All of them came from urgent situations…shelter kill lists, caretakers passing away, colonies losing their habitat, or from rescuers who exhausted every option before calling us.

While some cats arrive with a small one-time donation or supplies, ongoing care is supported almost entirely by our household. This limits how many new cats we can responsibly accept, and it’s why we focus on the cases with no other safe alternatives.

Our sanctuary is built on compassion, responsible capacity, and giving each cat stability, freedom, and dignity.

How We Provide Care

Here’s how our staff helps us settle in (yes, they do actual work):

Stress-Free Transitions

New arrivals decompress slowly and safely. Some of us need a minute… or seven months.

Vetting & Health

When possible, colony cats arrive already:

  • spayed/neutered
  • rabies vaccinated

This helps our sanctuary tremendously.

If they’re not vetted yet, males stay in a spacious pen and females stay on an enclosed porch until they can’t reproduce.

Acclimation Area

Once vetted, new cats spend time in a protected transition zone to:

  • learn the yard
  • observe the routine
  • feel secure
  • understand when and where food magically appears

Medical Care

Injured or sick cats stay indoors for treatment.
Cats with special needs stay inside permanently.

Outdoor Life for Healthy Cats

Our sanctuary cats free-roam across six rural acres — trees, grass, sunbeams, the works.

Our goal is always the same:
for The Chaos Crew to live naturally, comfortably, and on their own terms.

Education & Advocacy

We have many opinions (we’re cats), and we use our creativity to share them.

Through books, music, videos, character stories, and posts, we teach humans about:

  • community cats
  • why ferals matter
  • why relocation is dangerous
  • the vacuum effect
  • spay/neuter
  • how to support cats in the wild
  • the real lives of displaced cats

Teaching humans helps protect more cats like us.

Creative Work With Purpose

We are part sanctuary, part creative studio, part feline content empire.

Our chaos inspires:

  • children’s books
  • cat parody songs
  • animated & AI-assisted videos
  • character bios
  • educational media
  • behind-the-scenes stories

Our staff turns our shenanigans into content that:

  • makes people laugh
  • helps them learn
  • and supports the sanctuary

Every view, like, and share helps real cats.

Our Long-Term Goals

One day — whether by viral song, pure determination, or a lottery ticket the staff probably shouldn’t buy — we hope to:

Fence the ~3 acres of woods
To protect The Chaos Crew from cars, predators, and the occasional stray or dumped dogs.

Expand safe housing for special-needs cats
Indoor care is always limited and always needed.

Build a world where spicy or feral cats aren’t disposable.

We want a future where all cats — from couch potatoes to chaos gremlins — get the dignity and safety they deserve.

How You Can Help

We know not everyone can donate — and that’s okay.
We can’t buy our own catnip either, despite MANY requests to staff, so we understand.

Free ways to help:

  • Follow and share our videos
  • Like, comment, and engage with our posts
  • Read our stories and enjoy our music
  • Visit our Lend a Paw page for zero-cost support options
  • Shop using our affiliate links (we get a tiny commission — more snacks for us!)

Every click helps keep our bowls full.

Our Vision

We dream of a world where:

  • displaced cats have safety
  • ferals are respected
  • community cats aren’t relocated without cause
  • spicy cats aren’t jabbed with a needle to end their life
  • creativity and compassion work together
  • and every whiskered life — shy, bold, chaotic, or wild — has a chance to thrive

Through storytelling, humor, education, and connection, we’re building that world… one whisker at a time.
